Udinese Star Di Natale Apologetic After Receiving Two-Match Ban
Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale has apologised to the club and the fans after receiving a two-match ban, through a statement on the club’s official website.

The former Empoli star was not given his marching orders during the match, but the sporting judge handed him the suspension for his unsportsmanlike protests to the referee after a 2-1 loss to Bologna on Sunday.

“I am sincerely sorry for what happened in Bologna and I apologise to the club, coach, my team-mates and the fans,” said Di Natale.

“I set a bad example, but I believe I did it out of love for this shirt, which I have always been committed to. I felt we had suffered an injustice on the field.

“It’s true it was not exemplary behaviour, but my relationship with Udinese is very strong. The match against Bologna was at an important stage for us and the lack of [a positive result] caused me to lose lucidity.”

Earlier in the day, Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo suggested that if Di Natale continues this type of behaviour he will lose his spot on the Italian national team.
